Being a freelancer, do clients give you job references for only one job?

No, they are usually willing to do so more than once Oct 27, 2008

I have two or three regular clients who will supply references for me when required, but I consider it polite to inform them each time when I wish this to be done.

Yes they may Oct 28, 2008

If the client was very satisfied with your work and you explain that you are just starting out and trying to get more clients, they may very well be willing to give you a good reference. But as Jack says, don't just give out their name without asking.
