There's lots of reasons ranging from the practical to the political to the personal why translators may wish to know the geographic location (country) of a job poster.

Is this information available? If so I can't see it.

TIA

The poster may well not have a BB record.

A good reason perhaps... Feb 24, 2008

...is that when they don't pay, they don't want to make it easy for you to find them.

If you do not want the job let go Feb 24, 2008

If there isn't any clue where their station

please check
1. How long they joined in Proz if any
2. Check their site if any
3. Take the job (or avoid the job)
4. Pray they will pay

I think they do not too stupid to cheat you like this (without give a clue where they live)

Take this job is not good judgment also (its not practice, its real live man)

thanks Feb 24, 2008

Yes, I see it when outsourcer info is provided. But since I'm not a member it is hidden in the more recent jobs in which outsourcer info is hidden from me:-)

Business address is mandatory for job postings (but not always generally visible) Feb 24, 2008

Henry,
...is that when they don't pay, they don't want to make it easy for you to find them.

That would indeed be simple, wouldn't it?

Whilst not necessarily visible to the public, all job posters must enter full contact information in order for their job postings to be approved. In fact, thoroughly checking job poster contact information is one of the tasks that ProZ.com's Jobs moderators have dedicated themselves to: we do not vet jobs with inconsistent or incomplete information.

Best regards,
Ralf
