There's lots of reasons ranging from the practical to the political to the personal why translators may wish to know the geographic location (country) of a job poster.
Is this information available? If so I can't see it.

Yes, I see it when outsourcer info is provided. But since I'm not a member it is hidden in the more recent jobs in which outsourcer info is hidden from me:-)

That would indeed be simple, wouldn't it?
Whilst not necessarily visible to the public, all job posters must enter full contact information in order for their job postings to be approved. In fact, thoroughly checking job poster contact information is one of the tasks that ProZ.com's Jobs moderators have dedicated themselves to: we do not vet jobs with inconsistent or incomplete information.
