I work mostly for translation services in international organizations. For some reason, most of my jobs fall due on a Friday. I think that's because they have a proofreader look at them over the weekend so they can deliver them Monday morning.

So I may receive new work on a Monday, but the pressure isn't on yet, as they are usually fairly long jobs.

Other (maybe Fridays) Sep 10, 2015

It varies a lot. Translation work has a tendency to be irregular, but maybe Fridays, contrary to what I have “heard” over the years many colleagues complain about I rarely get requests on Friday…

My 5-day (except when it's more due to bad planning) working week is evenly distributed, due to agency customers accommodating with deadlines and a smooth flow of project offers.

Evenly Sep 10, 2015

Although I don't translate during weekends, I don't check the e-mails and I block all incoming calls except the ones from family.

Friday -> Sunday Sep 10, 2015

It would seem that my little corner of the translation world shuts down Thursday evening and doesn't start back up until Monday. I'm not complaining

Uneven workload Sep 10, 2015

The only times when I owned my weekends were when I was working in house.

As an independent contractor, my Sunday could fall on a Monday, a Wednesday…even on a Sunday!

True story.

Old poll question!! Sep 10, 2015

That's funny - I wrote that poll question a few years ago, and it's only just come up now!!

I used to not get much work on Mondays, because I live in the Southern Hemisphere (New Zealand), and most of my work comes from the Northern Hemisphere (Europe and the USA), so Monday here is Sunday over there. But for the past few months I seem to be getting a lot of work which starts on the Northern Hemisphere Friday late afternoon/end of business, which I receive my Saturday morning, so M

I used to not get much work on Mondays, because I live in the Southern Hemisphere (New Zealand), and most of my work comes from the Northern Hemisphere (Europe and the USA), so Monday here is Sunday over there. But for the past few months I seem to be getting a lot of work which starts on the Northern Hemisphere Friday late afternoon/end of business, which I receive my Saturday morning, so Mondays have suddenly got quite busy.

It has been quite difficult knowing which days of the week to put my son in daycare as freelance work varies so much, but I've come up with Mon/Wed/Fri, and that works for me at the moment.

Spread-out evenly, Sep 11, 2015

Although I do make a little extra effort on Thursdays and Fridays to try to have at least part of my weekend free. But many of my clients seem to work on the weekends like myself, and it's not uncommon to receive new jobs on Saturdays, and even on Sundays. MAybe one day I'll be able to do what Antonio Fajardo does... one day.

Yes - the weekend Sep 11, 2015

(Mostly), because I have a family and choose to organise my time in such a way as to be able to spend it with them. I do often end up doing some work - and sometimes a lot - but "typically", Saturdays and in particular Sundays are lighter days. And even when I do have a job that just won't be left, I follow Antonio's policy of ignoring all but personal communications at the weekend.

evenly spaced Sep 11, 2015

My Lack of jobs has been very evenly spaced out on just about every day of the week !! Might have something to do with agencies telling me that a big job is coming up and they will occupy my time for a week or ten days or even a month - so I don't accept other jobs - and then they either don't get the job - or find someone cheaper to do the job - and they never bother to inform me.
