Source text - English Forests produce a range of products including firewood and charcoal, lumber, paper, and crops such as coffee, oil palm, and rubber. With careful planning of growth and harvesting, wood and other forest products are, in principle, renewable resources. But achieving renewability takes time - often decades, sometimes centuries. Without careful management, pressure for short-term exploitation can lead to tree removal, soil degradation, and conversion of woodland to other uses. Consumption of forest resources can lead to environmental problems as well as loss of critical habitat and species. (Source: WRES apud OmegaWiki Dictionary: ProZ
(Fonte: WRES)

Two days later, he sent an e-mail to the Nupedia mailing list — about two thousand people. “Wikipedia is up!” he wrote. “Humor me. Go there and add a little article. It will take all of five or ten minutes.”” * Know It All. Can Wikipedia conquer expertise? * ProZ apud ProZ

Portuguese to English: Animais Irracionais
Source text - Portuguese Animais Irracionais:
Às vezes eu olho pra terra sem compreender
A luta dos seres humanos pra sobreviver.
O grande açoitando o pequeno,
Terceiros mandando apartar,
Mas na maioria das vezes o grande não quer parar.
Tem vezes que o desesperado se põe a pensar (a pensar)
Por que deve aos pés de um dos grandes se ajoelhar,
Eu passo por muitas igrejas pedindo respostas de deus
Pra ele calado no espaço ouvir os lamentos meus.
(refrão)
Animais (animais) nós os homens somos todos meio
Animais irracionais
Levantamos, guerreamos e deitamos e rezamos antes
Translation - English Irrational Animals:
Sometimes I look at the earth and I don’t understand
the struggle of human beings for survival.
I see high-ranking people scourging poor fellows,
while third parties try to drag them apart.
But in most times the aggressor won't stop it.
Sometimes a desperate man keeps wondering
why he must kneel down by the all-powerful ones.
I drop by many churches and I beg for an answer from God,
so He all silent in space may hear my moans.
(refrain)
Animals (animals) we the human are all kind of irrational animals.
We get up, wage wars and lie down and pray;
Life isn’t but a dream. O Sing along with me.
Sometimes I look over the world and the bad guys (the bad guys)
I see them making the grade in very high levels.
They don’t even want to hear about
hunger, problems and pain,
or even admit or suppose things about someone else.
And they always think they're absolutely right (absolutely right).
The money they have lost through their vices will never be recovered.
They're all big and small thieves
living among honorable men.
And they cross the highways of life killing or stealing someone's possessions.
(Repeat refrain twice)

- My name is Waltter Manoel da Silva, born in 1952-04-22. I am a Brazilian and and have been a public worker for the Brazilian government since 1974. I speak, besides my native language, English, French and Spanish. I also know some Chinese and Italian, and at least a word or a sentence in several other languages, such as Arabic, Dutch, German, Esperanto, Polish, Russian etc.
- As far as I am concerned, I have regarded with a lot of enthusiasm some activities, such as swimming, reading, informatics and learning and teaching foreign languages. Even though not as a full-time activity, I have been, since long ago, a Portuguese-grammar teacher for Brazilians and an English-grammar teacher as a foreign language.
- Some of my language experiences:
- Executive Secretary, translator and interpreter to the Polish Ambassador, Mr. Edward Wychowaniec, in Brasília (Brazil), in 1973 / 1974;
- In 1979, I started writing an English-Portuguese dictionary, which I finally made public, on 2005-01-04, in the public domain, through the pt.Wiktionary page ProZ; (NOTE: All English definitions therein are Portuguese-English translations, but there are many English-Portuguese translations as well;
- Some translations I made at the Portuguese-language Wikipedia = 1) Fraseologia (ProZ), translated from (ProZ); ** 2) Pinyin (ProZ), translation made on September 1st / 4th 2006 from (ProZ);
- Translations at OmegaWiki, a multilingual dictionary, (Pro|) also in the public domain: Tasks = English-Portuguese translations and creations of entries. Some created entries: batida (ProZ), chapa (ProZ), buckle up (ProZ), abstrato (ProZ), curb oneself (ProZ) etc. Translation English-Portuguese = forest production (ProZ) etc.
- Finally, I believe good works are the cornerstone of every progress, and I love being as useful as I can for my family and mankind, as a whole.
