Areas of expertise: Shipping & Transport, Logistics, Maritime Law
I am a native German freelance translator based in Hamburg, Germany, translating from English to German and vice versa.
During my school time, I successfully took voluntary intensified courses in English and German (as well as Latin), until I graduated with the "Abitur" in 2010, being the equivalent of the English General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level.
Building on this qualification, I started an apprenticeship in an international shipping and ship broking company based in Hamburg and Hong Kong, which I finished successfully, leading to a full time employment contract.
Working in the shipping industry since 2011, I am familiar with nearly all of its wildly different facettes.
I started in the sale and purchase department, marketing container and
bulk vessels to international clients, and moved on to operating a fleet
of roughly 25 commercial vessels, allowing me to experience every
aspect of their daily operation, from coordinating their movement,
handling cargo damages and insurance cases, to assistance in law disputes
and arbitration procedures before the High Court of Justice in London.
Since the predominant working language in the shipping industry is English, and my clientbase is largely German, I have been translating
texts and documentation from English into German, and vice versa, regularly since the very beginning
of my career, putting a strong emphasis on detail and clarity in order to avoid even the slightest uncertainties.
I am proficient in the use of SDL Trados and the Microsoft Office Suite.
In order to broaden my professional horizon, I am looking forward to working on interesting projects!
