Source text - French Suite à un Printemps contrasté avec un mois d’avril très chaud et ensoleillé, un mois de mai humide, et un mois de juin mitigé, l’été (notamment le mois d’août) a été frais et peu ensoleillé, quoique plus sec que la normale. A partir de fin août s’est installé un des étés indiens les plus longs et les plus exceptionnels de mémoire de vigneron : succession de journées chaudes, ensoleillées et sèches jusqu’à la fin du mois d’octobre. En résumé, la chaleur de mars-avril a favorisé un démarrage précoce de la vigne, puis l’extraordinaire arrière-saison a permis une parfaite maturation des raisins, conservant les saveurs du fruit et favorisant les composés phénoliques. Les vendanges à la mi-octobre ont pu être menées dans d’excellentes conditions, laissant le temps de cueillir les grappes à parfaite maturité.
Translation - English Spring saw mixed weather, with a hot and sunny April, followed by a wet May and a mixed month of June. The summer (especially August) was cool with little sunshine, although dryer than usual. At the end of August, one of the longest and most extraordinary Indian
summers in living memory arrived. This brought a succession of hot, sunny and dry days until the end of October. In summary, the heat of March and April encouraged the vine’s early growth, and the incredible end to the season brought the grapes to perfect ripeness. The fruit flavours were conserved, whilst developing an interesting phenolic structure. The harvest in mid-October was carried out in excellent conditions, leaving the time to pick the grapes at perfect maturity.

Originaire du Royaume-Uni et de langue maternelle anglaise, j'ai un diplôme de licence en Sciences Biologiques (avec mention très bien) de l'Université d'Edimbourg. Dans le cadre de ce diplôme, j'ai étudié des modules sur les sujets des sciences environnementales, de la pharmaceutique, de la zoologie, des génétiques, de la biologie évolutionniste, de la microbiologie, de la bio-ingénierie...
Ensuite, j'ai passé quatre ans en France, à Bordeaux. Ici, j'ai travaillé en tant que technicien de laboratoire (six mois), j'ai passé le diplôme national d'oenologue à l'Université de Bordeaux Segalen (avec mention assez bien), et j'ai travaillé pendant un an et demi chez une société spécialisée dans la biotechnologie oenologique (Groupe Laffort, France) en tant que chef produit. Dans ce poste - qui reliait les services commerciales, marketing, technique, et de recherche et développement - j'étais responsable de la traduction, du français à l'anglais, de toute la documentation technique et commerciale. Je travaille depuis un an en tant que traducteur en freelance spécialisé dans les traductions techniques en sciences biologiques et l'oenologie, avec divers clients privés et en agences.
I am a native english speaker from the United Kingdom. I have a first class bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (hons. Evolutionary Biology) from the University of Edinburgh. During this degree I studied various modules on subjects including Environmental Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Zoology, Genetics, Evolutionary biology, Microbiology, Bioengineering...
After this I spent four years in Bordeaux, France. There, I worked as a laboratory technician (6 months), gained a master's degree (with honourable mention) in Viticulture and Oenology from the University of Bordeaux, and worked for a year and a half for a Biotechnology firm, specialised in oenological products (Laffort group, France). As a product manager - which involved coordinating between sales, marketing, and research and development - I was responsible for the translation, from French to English, of all technical and commercial literature. I have been working for one year now as a freelance translator, specialised in Biological Sciences and Oenology, with various private and agency clients.
