Source text - English Only a few days before, my wife and I had arrived
back in Provence after an absence of four years. Much of that time had been spent in America, wher we were able to slipback into the comfortable familiarity of a language that was relatively free-although not entirely-from the problems of being socially appropriate or sexually accurate. No longer we did have to ponder the niceties of addressing people as "vuos" or "tu", or rush to the dictionary to check on the gender of everything from a peach to an aspirin.English was spoken, even if our ears were rusty and some of the fashionable linguistic flourishes took a little getting used to.
A friend of below-average hight told us he was not considered short any more but vertically challanged,
the hour, previously a plain old sixty minutes, had sprouted a top and a bottom,the economy was regularly being impacted, as though it were a rogue wisdom tooth, great minds intuited where once they had merely guessed,..... | Translation - Russian Несколько дней назад мы с женой вернулись в Прованс после четырёх лет отсутствия.
Большинство этого времени мы провели в Америкеб где могли снова окунуться в комфортную атмосферу языкаб относительно свободного-хотя и не совсем-

Нам уже не надо было взвешивать степень приличия в обращении к людям на "вы" или на "ты", или спешить за словарём для определения рода каждого слова будь то персик или аспирин.
Здесь разговаривали на английском, даже если наши уши были немного непривычны,и, чтобы понять некоторые модные лингвистические новинки, нам нужно было время.
Один друг, ростом ниже среднего,рассказал нам, что он уже не считается низкорослым,но вертикально вызывающим, один час, эти простые старые шестьдесят минут, теперь нарастили себе макушку и дно, экономику постоянно вытягивают, как будто это болящий зуб мудрости, большие умы чувствуют теперь интуицией там, где раньше они просто догадывались..... |
