W drugim kwartale 2000 r. Grupa Żywiec rozpoczęła wprowadzanie nowych zwrotnych opakowania szklanych o pojemności 0,5 l dla wszystkich głównych gatunków piwa produkowanych w browarach należących do Grupy.
Translation - English Zywiec Group produces more than [30] beer brands. Under the policy of portfolio management, the company has identified key beer brands with a crucial importance for sales growth. Three brands were considered as strategic products nationwide: Żywiec, EB and Warka Strong. Whereas, other brands, such as Specjal, Leżajsk and Warka were categorized as regional brands. Zywiec Group establishes its promotional campaign and distribution strategy for products based on the portfolio constructed in this manner. Other beer brands produced by the group play an important complementary role in the national and regional brand strategy. A characteristic feature of the Polish beer market is that the market is not uniform, but consists of many different local markets. Therefore it is essential for the group to offer flexible solutions, depending on the needs and preferences reported in the region. Additional benefits are also brought by achieving critical mass in distribution and the opportunity to have a more complete offer to wholesale customers, complementing the range of major brands with local beers.
Beer produced by Zywiec Group is packaged in 0.5 and 0.33 l bottles, 0.5 and 0.33 l cans and KEG barrels with a capacity of 30 or 50 l. Glass containers are offered in two versions: recyclable and disposable. Cans and non-returnable bottles are also packaged in so-called multi-packs, containing 4, 6 or 9 packaging units. In the second quarter of 2000, Zywiec Group began implementing new returnable glass containers with a 0.5 liters capacity for all major types of beer produced in breweries belonging to the group.
Thanks to their products’ high quality and exceptional taste, Zywiec Group has won various awards in many competitions and exhibitions. The most prestigious awards for the group are [•]. Production of such a high quality beer in Żywiec’s breweries is facilitated by rich tradition, with a recipe that is more than a century old combined with modern production facilities. In addition, the quality of beer and raw materials from which beer is brewed are supervised by the research laboratory. Zywiec Group also receives support for R&D from the parent company which participates in the development of new products, packaging and introduction of new technologies and systems. Implementing a policy of quality control, the company makes sure that quality management procedures are followed at all levels of the logistics system: with suppliers, breweries and also distribution. As part of these activities, audits and ratings of suppliers and standardization of documents are performed, in addition to complying with quality management systems such as ISO 9002 and the quality systems that are used in companies belonging to the Heineken Group.

Translation - English As a result of civil lawsuits, the courts award compensation for people with serious infections
Medical law: Polish civil courts give high compensation for people who suffer from serious infections or incurable diseases. Cases are resolved through civil lawsuits because criminal trials are too complicated.
Criminal trials for infections are rare not only in Poland but all around the world. Obtaining a conviction requires strong evidence which is difficult to collect. Tracking down the perpetrator and finding witnesses is not enough.
Article 161 of the Penal code contains the basic rule on such offences . It defines the responsibility for exposing a person to venereal, infectious, serious, incurable and other life-threatening diseases.
To use this article, prosecutors must prove that the victim was healthy prior to being infected, which is practically impossible. They also have to prove the perpetrator's acted with intent, which means that he or she either intended to transmit the infection, or was aware of the possibility.
It is possible that in the near future Mr Simon M, a refugee from Cameroon, will face allegations of exposing others to HIV. The list of his victims is getting longer, however the case is still being handled by the police and prosecution, and it is difficult to predict how compelling the evidence gathered by the prosecution will be. Law experts argue that Mr Simon M's offence should be qualified as exposing others to HIV or causing severe damage to human health.
Hospitals are frequently charged with causing infections. This type of case does not always result in a conviction, as it is hard to accuse specific people and prove criminal responsibility. For this reason medical facilities bear civil and material liability.
Infections during treatments or medical procedures are a tort under the Civil Code. Persons guilty of such an act should be liable for all material damages. The court usually grants cash compensation to the victim. Compensation primarily covers all costs of treatment and related procedures.
If, as a result of infection, an infected person becomes wholly or partially unable to work, they will be entitled to a pension, which can compensate for their increased needs and reduced future prospects.
Relatives of a person who died due to an infection can also claim a pension. The pension is meant to cover their loss of income and to compensate for a significant decrease in their living standard.
These situations are difficult to prove. It is not easy to prove where the infection happened and even how it happened, for example as a result of sexual intercourse. This is because symptoms only become apparent after a certain period of time. In cases like this, Courts use the concept of presumption of fact. For example, if a person's blood tested clean in the hospital before surgery, and the person became infected, it can be assumed that the person was infected in the hospital. To avoid responsibility the hospital would have to prove that this was not the case.
The Supreme Court in a verdict on 13 June 2000 (ref. V CKN 34/00) in regard to HIV infection, stated that in such matters it is almost impossible to prove exactly when and how the infection entered the human body, and that it is unrealistic to expect to obtain such information.

Source text - Polish The Monetary Policy Council’s latest report presents an assessment and evaluation of the conduct of the macroeconomic processes influencing inflation.
According to July’s forecast the anticipated growth of consumer prices in the next 8 quarters will be higher than predicted in April. Assuming interest rates will stay flat, there is a 50% chance that inflation in the 4th quarter of 2007 will be in the range of 2.3-3.3%.
According to the MPC’s prediction, the pace of economic growth in the coming quarters will be faster than the potential growth rate of GDP. The latest information about the labour market shows continuing growth in wages and a deterioration of the relationship between the rise of remuneration and productivity. It is possible that wage pressures will continue to grow and, consequently, inflationary pressure will surge. The Council recognised that the inflation growth in the medium term can be limited by an increase of productivity and the favourable financial situation of private businesses. The rise in inflation in the medium term can be also limited by the low growth of external prices, because of monetary policy conducted by major central banks and globalization accompanied by an increase of competition in in the market for goods and services traded internationally.
The Council predicts that the probability that inflation will run above the inflation target decreased, to some extent, as a result of the previous tightening of monetary policy, although it is still higher than the probability of inflation being below the target.
According to the forecast, GDP growth in 2007 will reach 6.4%, and in the following years be around 5.5%. Anticipated economic growth for 2007 is consistent with the April projection, but will increase in the years 2008-2009. The pace of investment will reach 20% in 2007 and in following years will be significantly above 10%. A favorable outlook for sales and a relatively low capital cost will be the source of high investment demand from businesses.
Growth of investments will be accompanied by a foreign capital influx in the form of direct investments and funding from the EU. Favorable economic growth prospects will also be the main driver of the increase in demand for work.
The dynamics of numbers employed will reach 4% in 2007, stabilizing at slightly below 2% in the following years. As a result, the unemployment rate will drop more sharply than anticipated in April and reach around 8% in the last quarter of 2009. A rapid decline in unemployment will have the effect of increasing wage pressure and consequently, the projected real wage growth will exceed the growth in labor productivity in the economy.
The forecast for average growth in nominal gross wages will reach 7% in 2007, which will increase to approximately 7.5% in 2008, and then drop to approximately 6.5% in 2009. Investment growth and the increase in consumption indicates that growth in domestic demand will increase by approximately 8.5% in 2007 and on average 7% in 2008-2009. If there is no change in the NBP’s (National Bank of Poland) interest rates then the inflation target will be outpaced in the 4th quarter of 2007.
