Mit den Begriffen Geist und Materie scheint ein Begriffspaar unablöslicher, feststehender Konzepte bezeichnet zu sein. Die zunehmenden Herausforderungen und Reflexionsweisen des digitalen Lebens und Kulturschaffens haben zu einer produktiven Befragung besagter Dichotomie beigetragen. Die Netzkultur hat die Bedingtheit der beiden, nur an ihrer Oberfläche widersprüchlichen Systeme verdeutlicht und in neue technologische Realitäten überführt. Das Symposium will mittels eines interdisziplinären Ansatzes dem verschränkten Miteinander kultureller, künstlerischer und technischer Praxen nachspüren, Entwicklungen nachzeichnen, Forschungsstände praxis- und beispielnah verdeutlichen und Ausblicke in potentielle weitere Entwicklungen ermöglichen. Der in diese Verhandlung eingeschriebene Transformationsprozess der wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen und die Ablöse unterschiedlichster metawissenschaftlicher Ansprüche wird dabei ebenso greibar werden, wie die Evolution von Begrifflichkeiten oder die digitale Durchdringung des menschlichen Körpers. Das Symposium zielt in seiner sinnhaften Dreiteiligkeit auf das Nachzeichnen, Vermitteln und Verdeutlichen eines gesamtgesellschaftlichen Paradigmenwechsels, der sich immer noch (weiter) vollzieht.
Translation - English Symposion: Mind and Matter. Comparative Approaches towards Complexity.

The terms nous (the philosophical term stems from ancient Greek - knowledge, spirit, intellect) and matter appear to signify two concepts irreplaceable and permanent in nature. The increasing challenges and modes of reflection of digital life and cultural creation have contributed to a productive doubting of said dichotomy. Net culture has exposed the causality of the two only superficially contradictory systems and translated these into new technological realities. This symposium, using an interdisciplinary approach, strives to investigate the entanglement of cultural, artistic and technical practices, to document the developments, to clarify the status quo of the scientific community in a practical and exemplary fashion and to enable glimpses of potential future developments. The process of transformation of the scientific disciplines, the replacement of extremely heterogeneous meta-scientific values will be made as graspable as the evolution of abstract concepts or the digital saturation of the human body. The symposium aims to describe, transmit and clarify a paradigm shift of society as a whole which is still going on (even further).

--- Short biography:
My dad's from Chile, my mother is Austrian, and both are English teachers. I was raised with lots of Spanish and English literature, conversation and travels to the respective countries. I went on to get a BSc., worked for Austrian television for some time (production and editing) but started right away to shift my career towards translating.
I'm new on ProZ. In the few hours I've spent here so far, I've already learned more about the real world of international translation than my University could ever teach me.
