English to Chinese: Self-fulfilling prophecy自我实现型预测
Source text - English Sometimes,knowledge-of-predictor bias results in a self-fulfilling prophecy-a prediction that comes true because a perceiver expects it to come true-such as when an initially false definition of a situation results in behaviors that eventually cause the false definition to become true. The classic demonstration of this phenomenon took place in a classroom setting in the 1960s.At the beginning of the school year, teachers were told that a few of their students were potential"late bloomers"who, given the proper encouragement, should excel. In fact, these students had been randomly selected from the class rosters and were no different from their peers.Later on in the school year, however, the "late bloomers"were indeed doing better and had even improved their scores on standardized IQ tests compared to their earlier performance and the performance of the other children in the class. What was responsible for the change? The teachers in the study probably gave the "late bloomers"more attention, encouragement, and feedback, and had higher expectations of them, all of which resulted in their improved performance. The teachers may have also looked more at these students and made encouraging body gestures toward them.In this way, knowledge of a predictor(in this case,a false director)resulted in behavior changes that caused that prediction to become true.Research has also shown that when an interviewer conveys negative expectations to a job applicant simply through nonverbal body language, the applicant performs poorly. This situaion hurts both the applicant and the organization;the applicant won't get the job,and the organization may lose a potentially capable member.
I am a freelancer(from English to Chinese) in the field of Mechanical Engineering, workshop management.I also would like to work in some other field such as Literature,Environmental science, Power,Computer science,Economic.
I had graduated from a college major in precision instrument for about 12 years.Since then I have worked for several factories,I am familiar with factory's management process especially that of quality management process. During this period of time,I often helped to translate management documents, mechanical drawings, instrument's operating instruction, and working instruction. My work was so helpful that my colleagues said I am good at translation.
I also have the knowledge of computer software and hardware as well as some concrete experience.I also ould like to try for this.
Thank you.
