Translation - English About us
A faster renovation of olive cultivation began in the early 1990 with state subsidies, the renewal of old olive orchards and plantation of new ones. Klaudio Ipša from Oprtalj and his family embraced the growing trend of renovating old family own olive orchards. They entered this business prudently and with faith, and the success that followed is, in their words, much bigger than what they secretly hoped for. Among other acknowledgments for their effort, they were awarded with the most important international quality reward when their olive oil made of the varieties Bjelica and Frantoia was the first Croatian olive oil to be included in the Italian guide of best olive oils (L' extravergine 2005 - Guida ai migliori oli del mondo di qualità accertata). The rewards that followed were awarded by the Slow Food association for the best olive oil made of one variety, and the most important reward „tri masline“ /„three olives“ for the olive oil made of the Istrian variety Bjelica in June 2008. Participating in various festivals and events such as Vinistra, Maslina in Split, Krasica, and Vodnjan, they received many medals, and the fact that L'extravergine included their product again in 2006., 2007., and 2008. is a testimony of the quality of the olive oil produced by the family Ipša.
Croatian to English: Brief history of the Istrian artistic scene from the 90’s till today - sample
Biennale u Veneciji).
Iako Istarski galerijski prostori još uvijek ne udovoljavaju uvjetima za kvalitetnu prezentaciju suvremene likovne umjetnosti, pojedine su se Galerijske institucije i organizatori likovnih projekata trudili i trude se unutar svojih organizacijskih, tehničkih, novčanih i ostalih mogućnosti istarskoj kulturnoj javnosti konstantno prezentirati suvremenu likovnu praksu, kako istarsku, tako i (doduše u manjem opsegu) onu nacionalnu i internacionalnu.
Translation - English From the relatively large number of artists who work in Istria and, in one way or another, shape the art scene of the Region Istria (the HDLU/ Hrvatsko Društvo Likovnih Umjetnika Istre-Croatian Association of Visual Artists in Istria as a professional association counts around 170 members), a certain number (about 20 of them) have also been very active on the national scale. These artists have participated in the 1990’s and in 2000 at important exhibitions of the contemporary Croatian visual art such as the Biennale mladih/Biennale of young artists (Zagreb) and Zagreb Salon. They have also participated in the custodian anthologies of the Croatian contemporary art such as: Nova hrvatska umjetnost/New Croatian Art (Zagreb, Modern Gallery, 1993); “Ispricati pricu/Tell a story” (Zagreb, Museum of Contemporary Art, 2001); and “Here Tomorrow” (Zagreb, Museum of Contemporary Art, 2002).
It is important to say that some Istrian artists have been awarded at the above mentioned exhibitions that can be considered as relevant indicators of the system of values, and were on several occasions recognised as the most important representatives of the Croatian visual art. The proof is the fact that some of them were invited to participate on the most prestigious world exhibitions (e.g. Biennale in Venice).
Although art galleries in Istria still lack necessary requirements for quality exhibitions of contemporary visual art, single Galleries and individuals involved in the organization of art projects have been working very hard within their organizational, technical, financial and other limits, to bring the contemporary Istrian visual art, as well as Croatian and international visual art (on a smaller scale though) to the Istrian audience on a regular basis.
Croatian to English: TOURIST ATTRACTIONS AS PRODUCTS OF A TOURIST DESTINATION - sample Detailed field: Tourism & Travel
Source text - Croatian 1. UVOD
Ljepota prirodnih i antropogenih vrijednosti, sjaj povijesne baštine iz različitih razdoblja i niz drugih elemenata predstavljaju osnovni motiv promocije hrvatskog turizma.
Translation - English 1. INTRODUCTION
In the last few years tourism has become one of the most dynamic sectors of the Croatian economy. In 2005 it was estimated that tourists spent around 7.5 billion euros on tourism in Croatia, or about 25% of the GDP. Between 2001 and 2005 the number of overnight stays rose by 18%, and the number of tourist arrivals rose by 27%. Tourist attractions and the appeal of a specific destination are key elements in the development of Croatian tourism, as well as tourism in general. A tourist attraction such as an area of natural beauty, a cultural and historical heritage site, or a spectacle or event is the appealing element of a tourist destination and motivates tourists to visit a specific destination. The expected scientific contribution of this paper comes from its theoretical and practical aspects. The subject of the research is based on the study of Croatian tourist attractions. The natural beauty and anthropogenic values, rich cultural heritage from various eras, and many other elements are the basic factors in the promotion of Croatian tourism. Accordingly, the purpose of this research paper is to present the theme of tourism and tourist attractions, explaining the motivations of tourists in choosing their destination. This research paper also points out the elements that need to be taken into consideration, as well as actions that need to be taken, while marketing tourist destinations. For the latter to be accessible they need to fulfil some criteria such as physical accessibility (by car), public accessibility (streets, roads), printed information, and others.
Therefore, the role of promoting a destination becomes an inevitable activity and it consists of offering all the elements that are appealing to a specific tourist market. This ensures that a maximum number of people learns and becomes interested in the (tourist) product (in this case) attraction, how they can buy it, and what price they can buy it for.

Bio
After graduating in English and Spanish at the University of Trieste in Italy I returned to Croatia and worked in tourism for a couple of years, while translating in my free time. I decided I wanted to dedicate more time to translating because I really enjoy the job and have received good feedback from translating employers. Currently I work as translator and English teacher. I've spoken Italian from a very early age, while I started using English in my everyday conversation 7 years ago since my husband is American. I have translated various texts dealing with many subjects and my fields of expertise are travel and tourism, education, media, sports, games and gambling, furniture and household appliances, food and diary, and cooking and culinary. I have also translated various meetings and press conferences. As of 2011 I am a court interpreter for Croatian, English, Italian, and Spanish.
