Is there any online source that provides Vista for evaluation purposes?

There is an evaluation download for Windows 7 RC (which is somewhat similar to Vista in terms of the software it supports and drivers it requires) at:

There is no Vista trail available, but Windows 7 mentioned in the previous post would be a good idea to try instead. It should be officially released in October.

Or alternatively you can download here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c2c27337-d4d1-4b9b-926d-86493c7da1aa&displaylang=en trial version which works on Virtual PC - not so great for real work but great for testing.

The Windows 7 release candidate trial will work approx. one year.
It's a lot of time for testing thoroughly

It should be officially released in October.

Compared to Vista, it works remarkably well.
My old Pentium IV with 2 GB RAM works as a charm.

Hi Grzegorz,
Considering Microsoft's advice of files backup procedures, etc. , I'd rather install Windows 7 RC on a secondary PC to avoid unwelcome surprises.

Yes, it's a purely test machine

BTW.
Trados 2007 Suite and 2009 Studio seems to work well.
I'll try to test other CAT tools too but I suppose the compatibility will be good.
If Trados works...
