OK, got it! Thanks! It's not too late either1
Maria Belen Apr 30, 2005:
The translation of "promesa de prenda" as "pledge agreement" is simply wrong. It is a simple promise to pledge, and not a pledge agreement.
Maria Belen Apr 30, 2005:
...without delivery there is no pledge. That is why lawyers talk about "promesa de prenda" (promise to pledge) and not simply "prenda" (pledge) or "contrato de prenda" (pledge agreement). The "promesa" means that there is still no delivery of the goods.
Maria Belen Apr 30, 2005:
Hope I'm not too late. "pledge agreement" is certainly, surely NOT a "promesa de prenda". Insofar as the pledge is a real contract (meaning that it is perfected through the delivery of the pledged goods to the creditor), without delivery...

commitmemt to pledge/promise to pledge

Hi! That's a "promesa de prenda". Now, "relevación de fianza" could mean both "collateral/guaranty release/relief" or "collateral/guaranty replacement/substitution" because relevar means both substitute (like in a relay race) and relief (lo relevo de sus obligaciones).
Rgds.

PS: prenda en efectico must be a typo. It's "efectivo", which means cash, downpayment, spot transaction.

neutral bigedsenior : it sounds like a redundancy " a pledge to pledge".
