On a form, "Platobný predpis na zaplatenie správneho/súdneho poplatku", the following appears under the heading "Názov služby":
Štátne občianstvo a matrika - Agenda štátneho občianstva - Iné podania - Apostille/Superlegalizácia
Does 'agenda' simply mean 'agenda' or can it be taken to mean the department that deals with that agenda - in this case, the 'nationality agenda' or 'nationality issues'?
I've had a query about this so would like to know for sure!

Without knowing what your document actually is, it seems from your question that it's possibly a document issued to confirm citizenship or to obtain citizenship, so in my mind citizenship would be a better choice over nationality. Also, in my opinion the word agenda is all too frequently translated into English as agenda when it does not always fit and we are adding a meaning to agenda in English that does not really exist. But again, maybe it so common that the true meanings have become blurred. IMHO. Roni :)

| Thank you for your comments. This is not the first time I have felt that the word 'agenda' seems odd in English. Perhaps I met it in Czech before. As I remember it, this was in a context where it seemed likely that they meant a 'department' or 'division'. |

: The ,,Agenda Statneho Obcianstva,, is preprinted ion the SK giovernmnet form and it means ,,Nationality Register,, where all the registrations of nationals are held. The word ,,agenda,, comes from communist times, when they frequently used it.

Citizenship Matters
This is one of those words that I have found to be almost untranslatable. It's synonym 'matters' is much more natural sounding in English and covers the sense of 'agenda' in Slovak. It does refer to a kind of department by describing its remit, but the word 'department' need not be mentioned. The expression 'desk' used to be common in some fields.
