Non-ProZ.com Aug 31, 2005:
I guess the real question here is if STRICTO SENSU or LATO SENSU can be used in the English. I, for one, have never heard it used outside of Brazil...

Phd courses in specialized fields or areas

if you are doing courses at a Phd level, they are by definition "post-graduate"...

Could also be: Phd level courses in areas of specialization

Strictu Sensu is not used in English!!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I agree that the Latin shouldn't be kept, primarily because not one of the qualified native speakers I asked understood this term well. Although it is all well and good to argue if the Latin should be kept or not, the main issue is if the translation is both correct and easily understandable. I think the other translations might have been the former but not the latter. "

Doctoral program[me]s

Enough ... de pós-graduação stricto-sensu means regular graduate programs (Master's and PhD), as opposed to post-Bachelor's professional development courses and the like.

For a wordier, more literal translation:

Regular graduate program[me]s, doctoral level.

This is similar to Maria Luisa's answer, except that the En usage for de pós-graduação is "graduate".

Regular graduate programmes include doctoral degrees other than the PhD, contrary to what my comment may seem to imply. That is the reason why I say "doctoral" programmes / level, etc.

I know it's not used but that is how the courses are divided here and how they are called and you have to explain how a BR post graduation course works not foreign one.

Good luck!!!
