Latin term

primarius curatorium

Latin to English Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
on a university diploma under a signature. Presumably this is some kind of university function, I just do not know what.
Thank you.

At least a dash to separate the 2 words would prevent those who studied Latin grammar from cringing at the lack of case.

Checked the document And it stands as I wrote it. However, my client copied it so there is a chance she made an error. I asked her if it was possible, she claims that it is not. I think your comments are very informative. Thank you so much.
Jennifer White Jul 17, 2019:
Thank you Veronika Well, the phrase as it stands makes no sense. I'm convinced that the word is "curatorum" ie a genitive which would make sense. I have come across "scriba curatorum" (secretary of (to) the board) in a number of certificates, but only Lota can tell us if curatorium is a typo here.
Have a good day. :)
Veronika McLaren Jul 17, 2019:
Jennifer It appears you are correct in reference to "primarius." Further research shows that the word curatorium is not ancient Latin per se and is used, among other things for "a governing board elected or appointed to direct the policies of an educational institution" and also "as the title of a position in universities" and the "curatorium of the Chair". Examples on the web show that "primarius" is indeed used as a noun when referring to the "head" of such a group and in medicine refers to chief physician, to first violinist in music etc.
Jennifer White Jul 17, 2019:
Lota Are you sure that the word is curatorium and not curatorum? Curatorum is the usual word used here (genitive plural of curator). A signature is always followed by the person's role in my experience, and here I am sure that the translation would be "principal of the advisory board". I think primarius is used as a noun here.

"primarius" is definitely an adjective, according to all my dictionaries - not sure whether here it may be taken as a noun, if there is only one signature
