Italian term

commutatori a tappeto

Italian to English Tech/Engineering
This term is found in a decree under the heading \\\"Scelta di una protezione contro i rischi dovuti agli elementi mobili\\\".
The phrase reads as follows:
\\\"-oppure protezioni mobili conformi ai requisiti 1.4.1 e 1.5.2.2B o dispositivi di protezione quali i dispositivi sensibili(ad esempio: relè immateriali, commutatori a tappeto), i dispositivi di protezione che mantengono l\\\'operatore a distanza (ad esempio: comandi a due mani)\\\"....etc...

\\\"Could commutatori a tappeto\\\" be \\\"position indicators\\\"?

Thank you in advance for your help.

floor switch or floor safety switch

This safety device apparently requires the operator to stand in a safe area, for example on a grounded mat or out of the path of the equipment. The switch is open unless it senses the presence of the operator. It could be a simple pushbutton (big) that the operator has to stand on or press with a foot.
Of course, it could always be something else, given even more context.....

mat switches

These are standard safety devices on factory floors and other areas (shipping facilities, etc.) where heavy equipment is in motion. (For what it's worth, "rele immateriali" are wireless relays (or sensors), such as optoelectronic beams which, when broken, trigger an alarm.)
