Hebrew term

נקודות לשימור

Hebrew to English Bus/Financial Human Resources Assessment
In an annual assessment conversation, there are strong points, points to improve and נקודות לשימור. I understsand the meaning but have no idea what the term is English nor have been able to find a document in English with an equivalent concept.

Discussion

Stephen Rifkind (asker) Dec 3, 2017:
No but I want to somehow express the meaning. I would love to find an expression actually used.
David Greenberg Dec 3, 2017:
Stephen, do you see that term used any where in such a way?
Stephen Rifkind (asker) Dec 3, 2017:
Answer from another forum Iyavor is correct in my opinion. Proposed answers: ponits for retention
Raphael Blumberg Nov 30, 2017:
I hear you David.
David Greenberg Nov 30, 2017:
I see. In my experience, I haven't seen חזקות and לשימור in the same document, so I wonder whether the usage in this one is anomalous and they really are the same thing. To my understanding, "שימור" indicates preserving the status quo in the given area, rather than getting even better.
Raphael Blumberg Nov 30, 2017:
Without reading the document, if I were a boss, seeking to encourage my employees to be better, I might isolate three types of behavior: chazakot - where an employee has already mastered some good trait, such as orderliness - שימור -where he's got be proclivity to be good at something but it needs strengthening and encouragement(hence butressed, etc.) and שיפור, a polite way of saying that the fellow is in bad shape, is about to fired if he doesn't improve, etc. The three seem very distinct to me.
David Greenberg Nov 30, 2017:
Is there an obvious difference, though?
Stephen Rifkind (asker) Nov 30, 2017:
Yes, there are strong points and this one.
David Greenberg Nov 30, 2017:
Is there a clear difference in the document between "נקודות לשימור" and "נקודות חזקות"?

20 mins

points to be buttressed/reenforced/bolstered

Just brain-storming.

points that require improvement

Or:
points that need improvement

Far more natural in the context of the source than “buttressed/reinforced/bolstered.”

I also think that “issues” would be more natural than “points” in all of the instances cited by the Asker.

Or, perhaps better:

points/issues that require/need attention
Peer comment(s):

disagree iyavor : that would be נקודות לשיפור. Here we are talking about things that were done well, and should be noted so that we continue doing those things in the future.
