The term relates to rotating anode X-ray tubes as used in radiology. The 'Brennbahn' is also referred to as the "röntgenaktive Schicht". I found the following via Google, which may help explain, but I couldn't find an English equivalent:

The website you found has an English version where you can find "x-ray targets" as equivalent to the "Drehanode"; there they use the term "target surface".

: Yes, for the actual surface layer. For the annular surface where the electron beam impinges, the technical term is 'focal track' (see ech.snmjournals.org/cgi/content/full/32/3/139). The German term may be a coinage derived from 'Brennpunkt'.

Thanks Kenneth. But couldn't 'focal track' be the "Brennfleck", the place where the electron beam actually impinges? Here they seem to be talking about a sort of layer (despite the "-bahn" term).

"Graphite backed X-ray targets consist of a thin focal path of a tungsten-rhenium alloy with 5 or 10% rhenium, behind which is the TZM body. In turn it is brazed onto a layer of high purity graphite which varies in thickness."
