German term

Sterbefallsanzeige

German to English Law/Patents Genealogy Freiwillige Gerichtsbarkeit
All,

I am translating a document by the Hessische Staatsarchiv Darmstadt that describes how various documents relating to family law were maintained prior to 1900.

As far as I understand, a city court notifies its relevant district court of a person's death through a Sterbfallsanzeige.

The source text is from Germany (Hessen), client is in Australia.

Many thanks!

Peter

death notice

I've seen this used and it fits well in your context seeing as you need a plural version.
Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : This sounds like something published in a newspaper by the relatives.

That's true, although the text itself specifies that the notice is from the city court. Still, in light of that, perhaps "notification" is the better option!
