French term

résidu maximum de modélisation

French to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng
Again, from a certificate of calibration.

The sentence is "L'incertitude d'étalonnage est composée à partir du résidu maximum de modélisation"

I have translated this term as "maximum modeling error" but am not certain. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

"residue" can be quite specialised. EG see http://mathworld.wolfram.com/Residue.html and try googling "residue theorem"

Thank you for your input! I have gone back and forth between "remainder" and "residue" (though residue doesn't sound right) and then thought "error" might be appropriate.
chris collister May 4, 2014:
Mathematical models, in which large arrays of linear equations are solved iteratively, generate "residuals" or "residues" representing local errors. In this particular case, "error" is probably OK.

Maximum of the normalized residual

Declined
I do numerical modelling of experimental data and I use the normalized residual to see if my modelling is sufficiently close to the experimental value.
