¿No vienes de la industria del papel / la industria papelera?
It can really only mean this. There is no other double meaning that I can imagine for paper. If they had said "you're not from *the* paper", then you could understand from this that they are talking about a newspaper but no one in their right mind would say "you're not from paper" without "the" and want to mean a newspaper.
