Too often, meetings are dominated by the most senior leaders, the loudest extroverts, and people who are best at thinking on their feet.
Rounds is a technique we use to structure discussions and gather input from everybody in the room.
Rounds are a great way to hear all voices, not saying going to act on it but you hear all voices. 
Rounds move the conversation forward in an ordered, purpose-driven way, helping us avoid rabbit holes and tedious back and forths between two people.
They ensure that every voice is heard, and that all perspectives are represented equally, and that decisions can be made with a more holistic perspective on any issue.
When starting out with Rounds, here are some top tips:
The facilitator cues the prompt every time and calls out each member so that everyone is invited to speak.
Members can pass, but you will want to come back to them.
If you’re in a round and someone offers a perspective and someone disagrees, not allowed to debate in the moment.
You have a thought and you wait until your turn.
When using a series of rounds, start with a different person to ensure that the same voice isn’t being heard first or last every time.
Use “leader last” so the leader doesn’t shut down discussions with their perspective.
Be mindful of “airtime” in the round.
Signal when certain members of the team are taking more than their share of the time, and pause intentionally when you sense the group needs time to process.
Keep in mind that as the facilitator, you can control the pace of the round.
Jot ideas from rounds in shared space, so it’s captured and you can refer to it later, you might need it.
In a smaller group, go sequentially.
If you have 10-15 people, you can go person by person.
Or in a larger room, use **popcorn** where you get people to raise hand.
Rounds are a simple but powerful way to ensure participation from everyone on your team.
In addition to the check in round, here are some other rounds you can try.
In the Creativity Round, each person offers responses to a prompt.
In the Question Round, each person asks clarifying questions to better understand an idea or proposal.
Finally, in a Closing Round, each person shares a final thought or reflection on the meeting.
As a facilitator, you use the one which is right for your discussion.
