Non ho capito il senso di quest'espressione (che normalmente vuol dire raggio, lo so...) in questa frase (si parla di lavorazioni di foratura e fresatura):

Oltre alla traduzione, cosa vuol dire in concreto? Specifico che il pezzo in cui si sta eseguendo il foro è un perno.

The way I see it, it's talking about the "cross-section" produced by a hole punched in a rounded part, so "circle" would apply, but the phrase is really dubious, maybe needs a little more context.
