Discussion

Yasser Moharram Dec 27, 2008:
Dear Colleague: I think the problem now is not in understanding the English meaning but the Arabic. So, please write the Arabic synonyms"المرادفات" to give you the English.
I think it's Saudi patois.
Ghada Samir Dec 27, 2008:
Which dialect is that?? Besides, your question is From English into Arabic?? How is that? Thanks
shmookh (asker) Dec 27, 2008:
مالت عليك When rejecting some one judgment some times specially when some one is close to you, you say " malat aliek " it means you are ridculing him for his wrong answer or his naivity.
Yasser Moharram Dec 27, 2008:
Is there a context, please?
Ghada Samir Dec 27, 2008:
Pls. provide more context/ the context where this expression is used! Thanks

Note from asker:
yes it means "yakhaibatk" but translation is not as acurate as it should be. I would prefere " go fly a kite" Thank you.

a worse thing may befall you (sometime a welcoming gesture from a female you are flirting)

This phrase may has other variations
مالت عليك الخيل
You may be in a bad situation like a desperate knight who has been surrounded by the horses of his enemies.
مالت عليك الايام
You may have a difficult time

Its uses differ widely. You may mean it actually (when the meant person did bad things to you or is going to do so) or ironically or specially as a welcoming gesture from a female you are flirting
