It means that the material (in this case wound protection sheets) have been subjected to irradiation with gamma rays with a dose that was sufficient to kill all bacteria. Gamma sterilization is particularly useful when the material is heat sensitive (like the polymers that are often used for wound healing) and cannot be heat-sterilized. Drawbacks are that it requires large equipment and lengthy exposure time.
