Initial wurden vier modifizierte Dopplersysteme aus der Neurologie verwendet. Keines dieser vier Geräte war zufriedenstellend einsetzbar. Anhand der daraus erarbeiteten Defizitanalyse wurde ein optimiertes Doppler-System (16 MHz, Endo-Dop) entwickelt und seit 1999 im klinischen Routinebetrieb eingesetzt. Die Miniatursonden werden über den Instrumentierkanal des Endoskops appliziert.
