When talking about the general ledger, it is a compendium of all the subsidiary accounts in a think, removable looseleaf book. I disagree with how the word ledger or account is translated into 核算 in Chinese. I prefer to use 账目。Note that "accounting" or "accountancy" is often called 核算 in mainland China. Even Kingsoft the e-dictionary says that -- Who am I to argue? The Chinese in Taiwan,Hong Kong or South East Asia may not agree.
