Credit hour explanation
effective May 1, 1978 the basic unit of measurement is the credit, which is equivalent to the standard semester hour. Prior to May 1 1978, the unit credit was the credit month. One credit month was the equivalent of four semester hours. From January 2, 1974, through Arpil 30, 1978, 32 credit months were required fro associate degrees., before January 2, 1974, 36 credit month were required for bachelor' s degrees and 18 credit months were required for associate degrees.
