Parlando dell'introduzione delle spezie in Inghilterra da parte dei Normanni, si dice:
"The spice trade was very important and pepper was often used as currency, and later as spice rents. During the reign of King John, the royal accounts listed pepper, almonds, cumin, rice, cloves, ginger, saffron and nutmeg."

Non mi è chiaro a cosa ci si riferisca con spice rents, potete illuminarmi?
