disagree Colin Smith : I don't think it means capital-intensive here. Capital intensive means "using up/requiring a lot of capital". This is about companies with common shareholders/owners, i.e. where banks and clients are owned by the same shareholders (conflict of interest).

checking EU refs, it's translated as just capital, so capital links. Makes sense linguistically at least

the term capitalistic is never used in English except in some very narrow contexts..you would NEVER see it in a business or legal text.....only things like critical studies, sociology, marxism, structuralism etc.

Does the context suggest cross-equity holdings as between businesses and their banks ?
