German term

Körperhauptachsen

German to English Tech/Engineering Military / Defense Audit / test report
Good evening,

Does anyone know what the English term is for "Körperhauptachsen"? They form part of the Leopard 2A6 tank (KPz Leo 2A6).

Im Voraus vielen Dank!

Kind regards,
Alison.

Of course, I will post as a further request, though this is related. Thank you!
Teangacha (X) Aug 12, 2020:
@ Asker Maybe I am being pedantic, but I do think you need to open a new question for each term. In Kudoz, if a question contains too many terms, it is dismissed. I would think the same applies here.
Alison Waddington (asker) Aug 12, 2020:
Thanks for your contributions Thanks, Everyone, I do appreciate the time and trouble you've all gone to with this. It is indeed referring to a tank, rather than to do with human physiology.

Unfortunately, I am not able to disclose more about the surrounding text, due to the confidential nature of the report.

However, it would also be useful to know if tanks contain "Wannen- und Turmbunken" (is there a specific term for "Turmbunken"?) also "Bunkerröhren", perhaps for storage of ammunition?
Teangacha (X) Aug 12, 2020:
@ Asker Maybe this will help:

The main body of a tank is called the hull. The armoured tower, that sticks out of it, is called the turret. The turret rotates, on an axis.

'The base of the turret (named PartToRotate) should rotate only on the Y axis. However, if the parent of the turret (a ship) starts turning, lets say to (0, 0, 45) then the turret will rotate on the X and Z axis to accomodate this rotation for some reason.'

Brent, Phil I think this may be about technical civil servants performing autonomous tests.
philgoddard Aug 11, 2020:
Could we have the surrounding text, please.
Brent Sørensen Aug 11, 2020:
Are you sure this is the correct context? All the searches that come up have to do with human physiology.

main axes // principal axes // major axes // rotational axes (for a tank?)

As far as I'm concerned, the term 'Körper' may be omitted in translation. I guess this is just to indicate that it is, indeed, an 'axis' as opposed to an 'axle'.

agree philgoddard : If you don't have any context, a literal translation is all you can do.

If this text does have something to do with physiology…

Abstract
Gastrulation is an important phase of early embryogenesis. It is during this phase that the three germ layers arise – ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm – and the primary body axes and basic body plan are established. In the mouse, gastrulation begins when the primitive streak forms in the cylindrical embryo.

A passage from the dissertation:
Die oralaborale oder apikobasale Achse ist die Körperhauptachse, Hydra ist radiärsymmetrisch. Die Hinweise häufen sich, daß dieses Merkmal nicht ancestral ist (de Jong et al. 2006; Matus et al. 2006a; Rentzsch et al. 2006).
