Doesn't really matter if it is a fund launch or buy-out: sponsor-cum-backer might well cover both.

: Joint/cum is a tautology, and so is sponsor/backer.

You may have miscontrued my answer. Joint was a separate idea for a joint partner and sponsor/backer had been combined in deference to your own discussion-entry of a pre- vs. post-launch query and that had not yet been answered. So thanks for the pointer.
