With reference to the award of legal costs. Seems to be fairly standard terminology.

Long, I know, but it is the meaning of the phrase as a whole I dont get, rather the individual components.

Unclear where this is from Arg. or Spain (STS case law reports) or whether even a civil or criminal 'costas' (there could a be a parte civil or Arg. citante / llamante en garantía under an insurance policy).

An appeal stage of trial is assumed: imposición de las costas procesales a la parte *recurrente*..... award of costs against the appellant(s) - or they have lost the case and had otherwise been vexatious in litigating.

... complemento de sentencia > query: judg(e)ment on part of the claim widened out to the whole claim, a co-defendant added by the claimant/ plaintiff or a third party joined by defendant. Alas, no help from law dictionaries (Robb; West; Butterworths, Alcaraz & Hughes or Couture. Montevideo & Bs. As.)
