A life annuity with next-of-kin as 'named, nominated or designated' beneficiaries [make, änka eller änkling] who 'inherit' generally under the nomination, so 'dehors' = outside of any Will in the UK.

neutral SafeTex : I just can't spot anything that tells us any such compensation is paid out annually and not monthly etc.

Good point! I make a number of assumptions when using financial terms like annuity, namely that it is not synonymous with an annual payment e.g. for tax purposes, but with a regular payment that can be weekly or monthly en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annuity
