In der ersten Saison (2014/15) war der Spark-Renault SRT_01E das Einheitsauto der Formel E, mit dem alle Teams fuhren. Seit dem Start der zweiten Saison hat die Formel E die Entwicklung gewisser Komponenten freigegeben. Mittlerweile setzen alle Rennställe auf eigens konstruierte Antriebsstränge beziehungsweise beziehen Antriebe als Kundenteam.
