In that case, ... ... "coil feed" might be ambiguous enough to leave room for either of the interpretations, i.e. "onto" and "from".

It seems to be a steel mill that rolls out steel sheeting. It´s a problem report in which crinkle cuts as malfunctions keep reoccurring. It could be that steel sheeting is coiled around rollers, but that is just a guess. Otherwise, there is not enough information for me to determine what type of coil it is other than that the original German text already uses the word coil.

I agree, Darin ... ... this would definitely be another option. However, your mention of "loaded" raises the question of whether this is to do with rolling material onto a coil (to create a coil in the first place) or with feeding the material from the coil for further process(ing) steps.

Stefan, can you tell us more about the specific type of machine/material/process step involved here? Thank you.

Recast "The coil is not always centered when loaded."
The typical German construction of "(noun) erfolgt" is often better written as a direct verb phrase in English.
