Breaking In New Hoist Rope
The hoist ropes are subject to significant stresses of compression and tension as the ropes bend over the boom point
sheaves and when the dipper is being hoisted through the bank. In order to prepare a new hoist rope for this type of
work, and to prolong rope life, break in the new hoist rope as follows:

banco de terra? através do declive? banco?

içada cortando o barranco; levantada atravessando o barranco
Explanation:
bank = barranco, ladeira, morro, aclive.
Usaria barranco, no contexto de escavadeiras:
https://www.google.com.br/search?q=escavadeira barranco&rlz=...

River banks, right bank, left bank: margens do rio, margem direita, margem esquerda.

PS.
