French term

décharge de propriété

French to English Bus/Financial Automotive / Cars & Trucks sale of vehicle
If this term had appeared on its own, I would be fairly confident in selecting 'transfer of ownership' (or perhaps 'release from ownership') as the translation.

However, it appears alongside two other conditions for the transfer of a vehicle, giving us:
- procès-verbal de prise en charge du véhicule
- certificat de cession
- décharge de propriété

I would therefore appreciate your help in narrowing down the precise meaning of the last term.

Thank you.
Proposed translations (English)

Daryo Aug 9, 2018:
it could be about "releasing" the title to the property of the vehicle from any "charges" (du type "charges grevant une propriété"

Namely, the vehicle could have been used as a collateral to obtain a loan, and the buyer doesn't want any nasty surprise like the vehicle being repossessed to pay for seller's debts.

disagree Daryo : what would you need any "certificat de cession" for in that case? + the legal system of a (/any) EN speaking country is irrelevant - this is happening under the legal system of some FR speaking country.

You ignore what a 'certificat de cession' means!
