English term or phrase: detachment
One more from the same text. Now it's about a defect of paint called "detachment" e.g.
"They are typical damages due to impacts from ballast or other foreign objects which generate a partial or total detachment of the paint layer from a conscripted surface of the axle."

The meaning is clear, but how to put it into Polish? It's a maintenance manual. My proposals:
odwarstwienie, odpadnięcie, oderwanie? Sometimes it's partial, sometimes total detachment of a paint surface.
Thank you from the mountain ;)

odwarstwienie

Explanation:
Chyba nie ma różnicy...

Ale podam jeszcze tą wersję:

Zanim skupimy się na wyborze rodzaju i koloru farby, trzeba właściwie przygotować podłoże - aby wykonana z niej powłoka dobrze spełniła te zadania.

Czyszczenie

Usuwanie zanieczyszczeń. Zabrudzenia mogą sprawić, że nanoszone na ściany kolejne powłoki mogą się szybko odwarstwić albo nie dadzą się zakryć i będą "wyłazić" na powierzchnię.
