French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Automotive / Cars & Trucks / Car dashboard
French term or phrase: tirant
This is listed as one of the components of a car dashboard/driver compartment:
- une traverse équipée du flasque et des tirants éventuels

I have tentatively translated 'traverse' as 'cross-member' and 'flasque' as 'cover', but I'm not sure of those, and am stuck with 'tirants'. Can anyone shed any light on this? Or even have an image with the parts labelled in French to help me visualise what's being described here?

Thanks :-)

Explanation:
"tirant" refers to a mechanical component that provides support at an intermediate point on a panel (dashboard in this case), to mitigate its tendency to bend/flex/vibrate.
