It's just that "micro-computing" sounds so dated, so 1980's in English. It's still used in French, though. Unless the text is historical, I would advise against using the term "micro-computing" in the English translation. Just look at the pictures in the link below, which also reads "Microcomputers became popular in the 1970s and 1980s with the advent of increasingly powerful microprocessors." "Personal computing" is more modern terminology. Obviously a micro-computer could be shared so there could be a difference in meaning, depending on the context, but probably the context is about laptops, etc., and so "personal computing" would sound better, if the text is educational contents about present-day technology.
