Mehrere internationale Finanzinstitutionen,die dazu eingerichtet wurden,das Ziel einer Entwicklung der Dritten Welt zu verfolgen,haben die ökologische Folgen von Grossprojekten ignoriert und damit oft mehr Schaden als Nutzen angerichtet. Es gibt zwar einige Fortschritte hinsichtlich der Einbeziehung von Umweltgesichtspunkten in die Richtlinien zur Kreditvergabe,aber damit werden sie ihrer Verantwortung bei weitem nicht gerecht. Infolgedessen suchen inzwischen mehrere von uns im Senat nach Möglichkeiten,wie man ihnen Beine machen kann.( „suchen“ non regge un verbo??!è possibile che viene tralasciato il verbo „andare“??!la seconda parte si traduce con "con le proprie gambe"??)
