I would really appreciate some help with this phrase: "when the clinical trial results mature"
Thank you in advance!

The main justification for long‐time storage at the biorepository is to be able to perform the best translational science
when the clinical trial results mature, and using the least amount of tissue from the tumor block. Continued
improvements in the efficiency of molecular techniques, and in the quality of biomarkers being developed, will enable
better results and increase the likelihood that predictive tests could become broadly available for this clinical
treatment question. We will not be able to introduce new therapies without strong biomarker assays.

resultados de los ensayos clínicos maduren

Explanation:
the question is really linguistic rather than technical. My interpretation is that the science behing clinical trials will 'evolve', develop, MATURE with time so that samples stored for a long time in the biorepository will acquire a new value, and results obtained from them will be seen in a different light, or perhaps will enable insights that would not be possible today.

Clearly, what may mature are not the results themselves, but the whole body of knowledge behind clinical trial science. However, I think the meaning does come clear.
