Italian term

Imprese con partecipazione estera

Italian to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) newspaper article on G7
Context:
imprese con partecipazione estera fra le quali spiccano molte società provenienti proprio dagli altri Paesi del G7.

Could I translate this term with "enterprises holding stakes in foreign companies"? Or is there a more specific term?
Thanks in advance
Thérèse

Couldn't it mean companies wholly or partly owned by foreign companies? Your example uses "a" rather than "con".
What's the wider context?
