La Déléguée (this context)

Thanks all! I don't mind this one being translation-ish but I did explicitate after conferring with the client. I went with "Recorded by registry official January 13, 2015" and later just put "Civil Status Officer" which I have used before.

@Nikki - explicitation is one of my favorite words and gnarly concepts!

I have often come across "fonctionnaire municipal délégué dans les fonctions d'Etat Civil par le maire de xxxxxxxx. So the person is delegated by the mayor to act as registrar. That is his job, no less. It is possible that "déléguée" here, though in an odd place is the registrar officiating at that time.

The important thing here is to make a distinction between "l'officier de l'état civil" and "la déléguée".
Use whatever term you usually use for the "officier de l'état civil" (e.g. Registrar) and then something to indicate that the "déléguée" is someone acting in an official cpacity, although not the fully-fledged Reigstrar, (e.g. Tony's "registry official", or why not even something quite literal, "delegate official" / "official delegate". It sounds a bit translation-ish, but could work).

@Roberta. With regard to your Note in Tony's post, I don't see why any explanation would be required if a suitable term is found. There are many solutions to indicate this is an official stand-in; Tony's suggestion is a good fit for the French.

It does mean this. Have dealt with many similar documents - on behalf of/ for the mayor
