Portuguese term

Direito das Coisas / da Propiedade

Portuguese to English Law/Patents Law (general) Portuguese Civil Code
Headings from the Portuguese Civil Code include:

Livro III - Direito das Coisas:
Título II - Direito da Propriedade

As far as I can make out, they both mean Property Law. Anybody have any ideas about how to distinguish the two?

TIA, MJ

Tangibles vs. intangibles My desultory impression is the first one deals with title to tangible property and the second with title to intangible property like copyright.

I like Nick T's idea of chattel law, only thing is the first one seems to refer to both Goods (chattels personal) & Land.

But we have a problem with classification as personalty (not personality) vs. realty in Anglo-Am law is not the same as movables vs. immovables in Roman civil law systems, as my first university law lecturer (a Chancery Barrister!) quipped, adding only the chattel real = leaseholds 'headache' in EN law.

The difference is Land Law & Chattel Law

Real estate is often considered synonymous with real property (sometimes called realty), in contrast with personal property (sometimes called chattel or personalty under chattel law or personal property law).

What I really want to know... is the difference between the two. I am happy with "Property Law" for Direito das Coisas.

Tangible/Intangible Property Law

Before any split of the questions: Sale of Goods (Chattels Personal) and Land Law vs. Industrial & Intellectual Property Law

I'll try to make the distinction a neat one.

Leaseholds in E&W would be a hybrid of a chattel real; half chattel and half land. So chattels fits the bill none too well for cosas as both movables and immovables. I'd also considered and dismissed: The Law on chattels real vs. chattels personal for the above leaseholds reason..
Example sentence:

Direito das coisas é um ramo do direito privado que trata dos direitos de posse e propriedade dos bens móveis e imóveis, bem como das formas pelas quais esses direitos podem ser transmitidos.
