Estoy traduciendo un informe de alta y he encontrado dificultad para traducir "SERVICIO DE CIRUGÍA CARDIOVASCULAR VASCULAR" al no estar familiarizada con terminología médica. Alguna sugerencia. Muchas gracias. (Mi propuesta es : Cardiovascular vascular Surgery Department), no sé si es correcto.

Probably means they do both. "Vascular cardiovascular" as an adjective doesn't make much sense to me.

There are plenty of examples where "vascular" and another specialist type of vascular surgery is used in the same title, which leads me to think that "vascular and cardiovascular" might indeed be what is meant here.

philgoddard: I'm not a medic, but surely this is a tautology?//If it was me, I'd translate it as "cardiovascular" and put a translator's note saying why. But I may be wrong.

-> Thanks, Phil. Fairly certain "vascular cardiovascular" would be, not so sure about this. Perhaps there's a reason for mentioning both. If there's a tautology here it's in the original and this is not a literary work. What would you suggest?//Cheers.

Erzsébet Czopyk: sometimes the girls can make typos let's ask where is this strange hospital (my mother was a Head of Nursery Dept and I translated a lot of (and actually i am translating) discharge reports - usually full of typos and abbreviations :)
