Hello! Sorry for the late answer. I was particularly busy these days.
Thank you for your help!
Indeed, the EN syntax gave me some trouble here, but based on your suggestions, I've chosen the option n.2 (also seeking to understand with the context).
Thanks again!
Tony M Apr 15, 2016:
@ Asker (2) You may well get clarification of this point from the rest of your wider context — not least, perhaps, in the units used to express this?

In any event, I would advise caution when interpreting the EN syntax here, in order to avoid any risk of a translation error.
Tony M Apr 15, 2016:
@ Asker I think you need to be very careful here in interpreting the EN syntax, as I believe it is open to misinterpretation.

Note carefully the word order: "prescription volume uptake" — it is specifically NOT '...uptake of prescription medicaments'

This not being my specialist field, and as this is also EN-US, I can only hazard a guess at 2 possible meanings, based purely on the syntax here:

1) The extent to which patients 'take up' (i.e. get dispensed) the medication prescribed for them. This would be a logical interpretation of 'prescritpion uptake', though it seems a curious statistic to use, and probbaly on the drug company wouldn't have access to.

2) The volume of these new drugs that are being 'taken up' by doctors by the act of prescribing them. This would seem to me a more likely statistic for the company to be using: "We made the product, to what extent is it being used?" (as well as one more likely to be available to them) — BUT in that case I would have expected the word order to be 'prescription uptake volume'.

Merci Manu !
agree Didier Fourcot : La consommation en volume, ça évitera les chicaneries des matheux qui diront que ce sont des nombres et pas des chiffres

Merci Didier !
neutral Tony M : I'm not sure this tells the whole story; I suspect it possibly means the amount actually dispensed, compared with the amount presscribed; I don't know how the company would know that, but it would be more compatible with the EN syntax. Pls see discussion

Sorry about it!
disagree Tony M : 'slimming drugs' would be a gross mistranslation of the s/t here!
