German term

Zwischenverwendungsnachweis

German to English Bus/Financial Accounting Auditing
"Im Rahmen unserer Prüfung des Auszahlungsantrags/Zwischenverwendungsnachweises über die Förderung im Rahmen der Gemeinschaftsaufgabe „XXX" (XXX) werden wir bestätigen, dass die in der Belegliste aufgeführten Anlagegüter zum Investitionsvorhaben „Hotforming" zählen und im Anlagevermögen (Steuerbilanz) der Gesellschaft aktiviert sind."

Okay, this didn't seem so difficult at first, but the more I look into it, the more confusing it gets. The "zwischen" part seems to mean "intermediate" or something similar, but for "Verwendungsnachweis," it seems like this can be used in several ways, and based on the context, I've ruled out the SAP context, but as this is a letter from an auditing firm to a manufacturing firm, there are two possibilities:

1) Proof of appropriate use of funds (based on the Förderung im Rahmen der Gemeinschaftsaufgabe) as suggested here: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/german_to_english/finance_general/...

or

2) Proof that the parts have been used in the appropriate place.

The rest of the letter doesn't provide any more hints, but I think that option 1 may be more likely. Then, after deciding which option is applicable here, I need to figure out how to express it in English.

For option 2 specifically, "where-used list" seems to apply mostly to SAP, but I found some sources where it is also used in manufacturing: https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=dQHSTqR7ijUC&pg=PA93&lpg...

Here's a good German reference that seems more appropriate to this context: https://foerderung.buendnisse-fuer-bildung.de/static/doku/an...

Other English possibilities are "cross-reference," "usage list" and "source and disposition statement" which all appear in numerous dictionaries. "Source and disposition statement" looked promising, but when I google it, all the results are from German-English language dictionaries, and I think if it were the correct term, we would see some other evidence of its existence...

interim proof of (appropriate) use (of funds/grant)

Your first assumption is most probably correct. 'Zwischen-' refers to interim proofs of appropriate use ('Zwischennachweise', i.e. basically the same as 'Zwischenverwendungsnachweise') of (parts/portions of) the investment grant to be submitted at the individual stages of the project, as also shown in your reference at https://foerderung.buendnisse-fuer-bildung.de/static/doku/an...

'Statement' might be an alternative to 'proof' ('interim statement of appropriate use').

I would respectfully disagree with your colleague because the notion of 'intermediate use (of funds)' appears to be highly unlikely in a project setting that involves investment grants because this would point to a potential difference between 'intermediate' and 'final' use.

Funds are 'used' for their intended purpose (just at different project stages or in 'instalments', hence the 'Zwischen[verwendungs]nachweise'), and that's all there is to it, at least in my view.
Note from asker:
Thanks, Steffen. I have a question for you. I was running this by a native German colleague (who is admittedly not a specialist in the field), and she didn't agree that Zwischennachweis and Zwischenverwendungsnachweis are the same thing. She thinks it's more something to do with proofs of intermediate use. Any thoughts?

statement of interim drawdown; (public budget) interim appropriation record

Leaving the term all as one phrase e.g. interim drawdon of funds statement may well capture the ambiguity of the intermediate use or the record, but is apt to create more muddle.
Example sentence:

Maximum Drawdown: Measures the loss in any losing period during a fund's investment record.

Maximum Drawdown: Measures the loss in any losing period during a fund's investment record.
